The God Can’t Destroy Streetwear Spring/Summer 2021 fashion show was a revolutionary take on runway shows in the pandemic. The show was set in a intergalactic colosseum and features out of this world designs. The presentation was completely animated and done in CGI. Directed by head designer Giuliano Calza, the show had all the nuances a traditional fashion show would have, including an audience quietly whispering to each other. The collection had quite a few Rick and Morty graphics, which supported the sci-of aesthetic. With an animated program the sky’s limit and Calza took advantage of this. He displayed models of different shapes, sizes, races, and species ( yes there was a green one-eyed alien goddess and I live for her). The models were styled by Anna Trelyvan. Trelyvan is quirky New Yorker who truly captures the essence of the brand with her outfit combos. Overall, the GCDS was a complete hit for me. I would love to see other brands to adopt this format in the future.
